Hi everyone! I may sound desperate...but i’m at the end of my make-up rope, so to speak. I swear, sometimes I envy 2 year olds because I would have loved to have just pitched hissy fit right on the Macy’s floor today in my umpteenth make-up trial/return/money waste...hours and hours of research have done nothing to help...I keep trying! Then I caught some eps of Trix of the Trade and got new hope. Dare I? So two main issues: 1)Uber sensitive skin. i do not use the term ‘sensitive’ loosely. I tried the mineral makeup things nearly a decade ago and was allergic...people kept telling me I was crazy, you can’t be allergic....and now all these articles are coming out about irritants in mineral makeup...no kidding! also, I have a porcelain-fair complexion with COOL undertones, though for years everyone from laypeople from make-up artists kept shoving me toward warm shades...peaches/yellows/etc. ug, I finally just rebelled and went for some cool pinks and berries in lip and cheek color and I lit up/ loved it. It wasn’t until yesterday that a Lancome tech agreed with me(after making me try on 5 different foundations, and settling on the 1st I pointed to--the fairest, coolest--(’Porcelain delicate’.)

victory, until of course, my face was itchy and bumpy and oily/pore-y with a reaction to the ingredients. So, after countless drugstore and ‘higher end’ make-ups, which always result in at least one and usually both results--severe irritation/too orange-y sallow. I am so exhausted and frustrated....I just wanna be pretty...wail.

In my ideal world, I would get that porcelain doll look--flawless fair skin with high pink cheek color and flushed pink/rose/berried lips. For the first time I found out the COLOR was possible (after some protest that my 1st choice was ‘too white’ the lancome artist was thrilled with way the color mayched/balanced my skin as was i)...now if I could just find a formula that din’t itch/burn/swell/turn my skin into pores and orangely nastiness. Are the ingredients in Tricia’s makeup good for sensitive skin? Can I get that fair yet flawless finish? I am fortunate enough to have even-toned skin with only the rare blemish--usually caused by a product reaction. Though I have brown eyes and red hair (which makes the auto-push toward warm) my hair is a cool-toned red (Burgandy vs the lovely ginger/copper shade shown by the young lady in one of Tricia’s vids who was fair skinned but more warm.) All the ladies are beautiful--I’m sorry I forgot the young lady’s name, she was the teen who was shown with the ‘natural’ look and creme blush--love creme blushes!--and loved her look the best.

Sorry for the looong post, but I really need help and am seriously at a complete loss and feel abandoned by the make-up world!

Will the light foundation and colorless powder be okay for my sensitive skin? will it achieve the porcelain look? Which blush colors are best (Prefer creme, if you still have those.)

Thank you for any help/tips/advice!!!!xxoo

Hi Tricia-

I had to have a root canal & temporary crown put on last week :(. Of course I always have to wear some kind of make-up when I leave the house, so I wore Skinny Starlets and the Clearly Pretty - Color Revealing Lip Gloss. After 4 hours in 2 different dentist’s chairs, having a rubber dam put on my mouth to isolate the tooth, my mouth wiped several times, and 3 tooth molds made, my lips still looked great! Maybe not so glossy, but the color was still true. I just put a little lip balm on when I was done (not so easy when one side of your mouth is numb!) and my lips looked as good as they did when I left the house. I love the shade it brings out on my lips, and the staying power is incredible!

I splurged and got the By Terry Rose Lip Baume - it works great, smells great, amd a little goes a long way, so it definitely was worth the splurge for me. It also has a little bit of an opalescent sheen, which I love. My husband and I were in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, and my lips (and everything else) always seemed to be parched-whether we were inside or outside. So, I drank alot of water and used the By Terry, and I am convinced the baume saved my lips. Thanks for the great advice!

So I go through these obsessive phases of products. Last year I was all about Hermes scarves. Red lipstick. Frye boots. Now it’s all about skincare.

I buy philosophy, Wei East from HSN, Creme de la Mer, etc etc. Which brings me back to an oldie but goodie-- and I think maybe even Tricia developed or had a part in this line. Prescriptives Vibrant-C. I remember reading about this in high school and how Sharon Stone bought like 17 at a time so as to never run out. Anyhow, I used it in college when I still had young skin and loved how it felt and how luminescent it made my skin.

Well yesterday I ended up at Nordstrom and they’re having a beauty trunk show in a few weeks so now’s the time to buy products to get great freebies. Well I tried the vibrant-c again and looked AMAZING. Without any makeup or foundation. Just mascara. I truly think it’s more cosmetic than anything else but it makes your skin so radiant. I’m thinking of using it again… but more as a makeup replacement or primer vs a true skincare.

Any other amazing skincare products you love? (Another thing I’m obsessed with is argan oil, which seems to be the “IT” thing lately).
