Hooded or Heavy Eyelids

Hi! I am desperately trying to figure out the best way to apply makeup to someone that has a very heavy or “hooded” eyelid. I deal mostly with brides so I am looking for a very pretty, natural and romantic makeup application. I can’t seem to upload a photo, but this hooded lid is when the skin of the eyelid literally lies on and presses down on the lashes. This really closes the eye, the crease of the eye is completely covered. What can I do to really make the eye open up and “POP?”

I second a request for a lesson like this. My eyes are just like this. When my eyes are open you cannot see the eyelid at all.

Monty
Thanks for finding the old threads about this problem. However I would love a lesson on how to do different shaped eyes. What to use to bring out the best in the eyes. Especially to get an awake look. I am tired of people asking me if I am tired.

Hi!  These old threads have been very useful yes...and I actually used a very similiar technique with a bride I did Saturday.  But her lids were even heavier, (the girls shown in these threads had much more space to work with).  The brides lids are actually “pushing” down on the lashes so that the centre lashes are actually completely covered and disappear under the weight of the lid, and sagging down over the iris.  (Thanks for your help and input!!! I’m still learning my way around this site, really appreciated the links!)

I’m certainly not Tricia Sawyer and will never have the gifts of artistry and
knowledge that she has.  And, our dear Melissa (a professional of many years)
is on vacation til the end of the month).

However, I wonder if a few false eyelashes on the outer corners of the eyes
would enhance an overly hooded eye shape.  ???  I’m sure you tried this already
and am wondering if this is something that works.  ???

I’m sure Tricia has lots of Trix of the Trade for this problem when she has the
time to post.  We can flag down Melissa when she checks back with us.

I don’t know how Tricia has time to breathe with her hefty schedule of late.

Hi!  I tracked down this post before you all had to track me down.

Wow, sounds like a very major eye challenge.

Here is what I would have done if this was my client....I would have used one color only and made a thick line with a dark liner as close to that lash line that I could get with the lid issue.  I would have tried very hard to use fasle lashes as well—long ones.  But, it sounds like this was a very major challenge.  I am sure you did a great job.  I have not come across many extreme “hooded” eyes—in my business people have surgery when they have this issue (movie stars seem to be able to “fix” a lot of issues that us normal folk can’t).  I would have tried to keep the look very soft with color so as not to draw too much attention to the lid area.

Does any of this help or is it too late?

Yes! A very major challenge indeed! You can’t get wrong in applying make-up to the bride because it is her special day. I Advise you to search more on the internet and making a follow-up on this thread.
