HI All!

I have recently been introduced to some products that I wanted to share with you.  I recently turned forty and have very dry skin, especially in the winter.  My concerns have changed since turning forty and I am even more into anti-aging products than ever before.

I am now and always have been very skeptical of products with too many claims, as I am sure you are too.

I went on the search for anti aging products for dry skin that actually work.  The products I am about to list I have personally tried and I have seen results on my face.
These products have some great claims and ingredients and I felt they lived up to them.  It was a lot more of a regimen then I had been doing at night.  But I think it has been worth it.

Check them out.  I would love to hear if any of you have used these and what results you felt.

Kinerase Ultra Rich Night Therapy
Kinerase Lotion with Kinetin & Zeatin
Kinerase C6 Peptide

Perricone MD Advanced Eye area therapy
Perricone MD Intensive Moisture Therapy
Perricone MD Evening Facial Emollient
Perricone MD Restorative Night Treatment

All of the the Perricone products tingled a bit when I applied, but not in a bad way.  I just thought they were working hard.

Best,
Tricia

Before I bought Creme de la Mer, I went to Sephora to see if I could get a cheaper alternative.  I tried the Kinerase line (and bought a sample size kit).  It feels hydrating and has the added benefits of the active ingredient which is supposed to target fine lines/age spots/etc.  I would recommend the Kinerase Night Therapy.  It has a wonderful richness but not greasy at all.

My winter regimine includes these products:
Creme de la mer:  $130/oz and doesn’t work for everyone but has done WONDERS for me.  I had painfully chapped skin (burns when you use lotion, breaking out, so dry it was wrinkling) and this balm soothed it after two days.  Even tho it has mineral oil, scent, etc, it didn’t irritate my skin at all.  Chat up the ladies at Saks/Neiman and appeal to their sympathy and get a sample if you don’t want to shell out the bucks without trying.

Coconut oil:  you can get it at whole foods for $10/huge tub.  I prefer coconut oil to shea butter because it has a low melting point.  You can scrape off a tiny bit and rub it between your hands and it instantly becomes an oil.  I apply it ALL over my body right after a shower/bath without completely drying my body so that the moisture gets sealed in.  It’s 100% natural and will pretty much sink in completely.  I hate the feel of lotion on my body.

Weleda Skin Food: great for hands/dry spots.  Also natural.

Neutrogena Sesame Body Oil:  Either sprinkled in bath or applied post shower, works to seal in moisture and smells lovely

Neutrogena Emulsion: I use this on top of coconut oil/sesame body oil to provide an extra barrier.  This product may be on the “about to be discontinued” list and is somewhat hard to find.  I get mine at CVS/Amazon.

Neutrogena Hand Cream:  Filled with glycerin, this hand cream does NOT budge.  Great for winter/mothers who wash their hands a lot.

byTerry Baume de Rose:  Tricia recommended this balm a while ago.  It is $55 but has an SPF.  So creamy and luxurious and worth the money if you’re a balm freak like me.  It has the smell of Rosebud Salve but is superior in texture/longevity/sun protection.  In a pinch and cheaper options are burt’s bees balm or even the Neutrogena Hand cream.

Shiseido Future Solution Eye and Lip contour cream:  $120 but amazing.  I don’t know how to describe it except to say it “sticks” to your skin.  It has a super thick texture not like a gel or a lotion and it fills in all the lines/wrinkles in your mouth and eyes.  Also it has a natural whiteness to it which helps with dark circles.  Combined with Tricia’s eye slept and dark circles don’t stand a chance.

As you can see, I am a product junkie and this is just a short list of things I love for Chicago winters.  Today’s the first real snow of the season and I’m gearing up for a chappy/cold/windy winter.  Let me know if you have other products I need to try.  smile

Thanks so much for your dry skin post, Tricia.

I’ve been using Kinerase Cream for 7 years and always get compliments on my skin and I’m going to be 66 years old very soon.
Kinerase has been wondeful for me and I have been interested in purchasing their night cream for quite a while.

I concur with the Kinerase...it really is absolutely amazing.  Yes the claims are great and they have been validated in one independent study I believe.  The C6 peptide serum is AMAZ-O! brightens and protects!

Tricia, you should definitely consider the Kinerase SPF 30....it’s a new formula and comes in a tube with a pump top! The formulation is creamy and elegant and really brightens my skin like NO OTHER sunscreen/moisturizer I know! Just really pricey ($120 clams!)

The Perricone line is brilliant...I believe it’s under new ownership and the formulations appear to have changed slightly but it really is a great anti-aging line! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Vit C ester Amine complex face lift....has more of a firming effect than anyother product in the line and I used the Evening Facial Emollient with Retinol for about 60 days and saw a lightening of my sun damage!

Tricia....amazing choices! May I also suggest Bieuxskin (pronounced Bio-skin)....it is PERFECT for dry skin Tricia! and has deleted a lot of the scary preservatives, petrochemicals, etc.  It is a superhydrator designed for sensitive skin and has been so effective on some of the staff where I work that they literally only apply it ONCE a day and use a sunscreen in the morning! Their eye cream and serum is AMAZ-O!  I am thinking of breaking down and switching to this line!  My skin appears to have become sensitive to certain ingredients (before it was fairly hardy and could withstand sandblasting with glycolic and what have you).  These would be great!

Here’s the link: High claims as well but I do love the sample I tried of the 24 hour moisturizer! http://www.bieuxskin.com/pages/home.aspx

PS I do NOT work for any of these companies....however I am employed by a major retailer but do not get commission....it’s all from trying and listening to customers and being an obscene product junkie! Enjoy!
